WELCOME!
To children, teens and adults with disabilities — as well as those who love them, educate them and care for them — welcome to the REACH HIGH NOW blog. Our hope is that through positive, respectful exchange of information, ideas, resources and referrals, each of us can participate in helping to enable, empower and improve someone's life.
So join us. Become an active voice for you or someone you love with a disability. Ask questions. Offer answers. Provide counsel. Make someone laugh. Improve a life. But please, do it all with the utmost courtesy for and union with each other.
My entry into disabilities was 17 years ago, when my son Jeff — then age two — was diagnosed with autism. His challenge proved to be a Godsend to literally thousands of children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities, as through Jeff I discovered a highly effective instructional medium (video modeling) and a company (Special Kids Video Modeling Therapy Programs) that has helped young persons with disabilities in more than 30 countries! Today, video modeling as a teaching technique has been clincially studied and found to be highly effective for all types of developmental, cognitive and learning disabilities.
The point? Each of us faces challenges, sometimes enormous, with our disabilities — or our care of someone with disabilities. Don't lose faith. Don't lose hope. There is a purpose and, with strength, you can find yours (you may already have!) in your challenge and help make the world better.
